I don't give a shit if you want to drink, smoke, get high, whatever. But I've found that pot smokers are the most insufferable, because they focus so much on it- like it's some defining personality trait or something.
I think it's because weed users refuse to admit any harm could come of what they do. Alcoholics and other drug addicts know full well they are doing something very destructive. Most potheads openly talk about it in a 'and this isn't doing me any harm so it's fine to talk about' way.
Unfortunately, it does do harm, as anyone who has seen a friend become a pothead knows, although the harm is not nearly as obviously destructive as many other drugs.
Same here. It's one thing to think drugs should be legal or that marijuana isn't a big deal, but the vocal users have to constantly argue with you about how smoking weed is an objectively good thing and why everyone should do it. It's as if the weed has a toxoplasmosis-like parasite that changes their brain chemistry to make them fall in love with it so they'll grow more. Other drug users don't act that way.
That's like a tautology. The people who never shut about pot, that you know are pot smokers, are insufferable. The people who just light up occasionally and don't spend all their time talking about it, you don't know they're a pot smoker.
That's also true, but it seems like it's only pot users who never shut up about their favorite drug. I mean I guess you do have "whiskey lovers" or whatever but they'll admit it's their "poison of choice". Closest I can think of in terms of aggressive promotion is DMT but that's not recreational. Or shroomheads but everyone else knows they are insane.
I'm a whiskey guy myself, and that's mostly from living in states with blue laws targeting beer for a long time. At most I say I'm partial to decent whiskey and that's it. I've never met a whiskey drinker who has a beverage preference become their personality.

Nailed it!
Ever hear a coffee drinker proclaiming their addiction status?
