Pitbulls are cute pets SO LONG as you train them and raise them as such, I'm much more disapproving over pugs as they literally can't breathe properly but I just want to stop breeding them than culling them that some have tried to pitbulls.
It's not worth the risk.
Joe public cannot be trusted to train a pitbull to override the instincts that were bred into it. One slip is all it takes and someone is scarred for life, mutilated, or dead. That's not a worthwhile risk for the very minor payoff of having a dog that looks a certain way.
Siegfried and Roy couldn't keep the best trained tiger in the world from eventually ripping one of their throats out. Why the hell do we trust room temperature IQ Becky the 'pit mommy' to train a pitbull?
In fact in America, Jermaine Public CAN be trusted to train pitbulls to lean on those instincts and become even more dangerous killing machines.
I heard Siegfried and Roy's tiger wasn't actually trying to be aggressive, but with teeth that big does it even matter?
A dog where you need to have perfect and exact training and behavior at all times or else it has a solid chance to murder you or your children isn't worth it in any circumstances. Especially if you judge worth as "its a cute pet."
Even if you train it perfectly, there is always a risk it will suddenly decide it wants to kill someone. They were bred to be murder machines.
The scariest thing is how any other pitbulls in the home will join in the attack.
They can also randomly eat their own puppies for no reason.
Yeah, I'm totally sure every single putbull attack was the result of "untrainted" pets.
Then would you prefer we cull them all? I'm more of a 'so long as we haven't genetically bred them to suffer, the animal shouldn't be denied life' kind of guy.
Farm animals, all fine as so long as you aren't stacking them on top of each other they live relatively well. But a lot of these 'designer pets' have too many conditions they are eternally suffering.
I'm just tired as someone who likes dogs hearing everytime how people breed these dogs, owners buy them that can't manage it and an incident happens. If public can't do it fine, quit breeding them to stop them suffering being abandoned or put down in the future.
You can't train out instinct. Pits were bred as fighting dogs, it is in their blood.
