On a bit of a tangent- There's a Shadow of Mordor + War bundle for about ten bucks. At that price, I'm suddenly considering it, and that's even though I'd heard Shadow of War did some pretty stupid stuff with its lore (I don't think I ever heard anyone complain about gameplay).
The lore is flagrantly retarded, full stop. The gameplay is Arkham Knight(which I personally hate). The most interesting thing about the series is the nemesis system, which in my opinion is wasted by having garbage wrapped around it.
Batman-Arkham is the only game with that system where I actually kinda liked said system. Every other game I've seen a similar combat system was nowhere near as polished. And as I recall, aren't these the same devs? I know you said you don't like it, but if it's the same people with a very similar system, that gives me some hope.
Now if you want to get into the faults of Arkham Knight, while I was glad that it finally got to pull out the Batmobile to do awesome Batshit, controlling it was a godawful pain in the ass.
Warner so probably same devs, I dunno. I do know that it's been overused for years and I never liked that style of combat to begin with. Feels too much like the whole game is a QuickTime event.
Mordor was great. War was a deliberately grindy disaster intended to sell experience booster micro transactions in a single player game, which is a level of greed that still exceeds most of the shit we see today.
Games are amazing, def worth it
Play on a higher difficulty because slowing down the early game will make the later game payoff of ultimate baddassery that much sweeter
I found the inevitable god mode detracted from the genuinely interesting nemesis system that brought back previously-defeated enemies with immunity to the damage and/or tactics you used the last time.
I’m a super Tolkien fan. The lore is terribull, just terribull, but the games are so good I don’t care.
