It's rather surprising that it hasn't been more common already. Surely more of the up and coming politicians would have had personal pages on myspace or facebook (or miscellaneous accounts on prehistoric vBulletin forums) that could be uncovered.
Most people who have money pay to have their internet presence cleared and regularly monitored.
