You can't...you can't just fly a drone at a random vector relative to your actors. Jackson used sweeping helicopter shots in the same direction to communicate traversal. The fact that the camera is high up is the least important part of 'muh vistas' shots.
I've only seen the the trailer and a few clips, but I'm not seeing that
It looks… fine, I guess. Maybe not $1B good (those Diversity Equity Inclusion and Belonging commissars don't "work" for free!) but fine.
This is why I mostly avoid the anti-Woke culture critics now. When they talk about a new movie or show that's Woke, EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF THE PRODUCTION IS THE MOST TERRIBLE THING THAT EVER EXISTED!
I did watch a couple critics talking about this show, and that's what they were saying, and I just can't take them seriously anymore. They're just pandering to their anti-Woke audience.
When the show was announced, I assumed it was going to suck. When I heard what the cast and crew were saying, I knew they were going to do a Cleveland Steamer on Tolkien's corpse. When the first words of the song in the trailer were "speak your truth," I knew it was going to be Woke as fuck and I wouldn't watch it if you paid me.
But the whole "EVERY FRAME OF THIS SHOW IS AN ATROCITY AND I'M GOING TO SCOOP OUT MY EYES WITH A MELON BALLER" is just petty bullshit that destroys the credibility of the critic for anyone who is interested in honesty over partisan hackery.
I don't know what's worse, that someone looked at her face and said "Yeah, let's include that." or that pre-Senokot Galadriel at the end was the only thing that saved it from being utterly worthless.
It takes (a kind of) talent to make scenic vistas look this bland and uninspired.
Hopefully this clip of the scene with Morfydd Clark's, uh, questionable emoting hasn't been taken down by the time I post it.
Wtf was that whole sequence? Massive panoramic shots then forcing me to look a horses nose in hyper zoom and a meme faced elf.

I noticed that, too. A cinematic no-no. Either bad editing, or editing trying to work around lack of coverage.
I think more of this show's budget was embezzled than actually used. It looks so cheap. Like, cosplay made of cardboard cheap.

Looks like a Budweiser advertisement
The first 30 secs I thought it was taken from Westworld Season 1
