The nation of Krakoa proves that people were right to hate and fear mutants.
Maybe.
Krakoa is extremely isolationist so really the mutants just want to get away from the rest of humanity that has vilified them their whole lives. This even includes the terraforming of Mars to further get away from Earth yet both acts are criticised for taking options away from baseline humans that are nowhere near unified in the first place to attempt such things despite how advanced tech is in Marvel comics to the point massive space stations exist around Earth, an early Dyson sphere is in contraction around the sun, early terraforming projects were in place on Mars, and most of the top superheroes regularly travel to other planets if not galaxies because they have access to the means to achieve this.
But because Marvel needs Earth to still remain "near future" and relatively similar to reality Earth is still a shithole for the most part where countries are in squalor, regular humans still live below poverty as shown in some of the panels in the OP pic, and the status quo never changes because it would be too easy to do so given characters like Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and the other top minds in Marvel.
Sure some mutants have ELE powers and there are definitely those amongst the mutant population that feel resentment and prejudice towards humans but when given the option to GTFO from these issues they take it and cease hostilities. Until said hostilities follow them to their new home and begin yet another mutant genocide because letting mutants live in peace removes too many of the allegories they stand for such as eternally oppressed minorities. Oppressed minorities that can terraform planets and bring back the dead.
While there have been some examples of mutants whose very existence is lethal to everything around them those have mostly been in alternative universes so they don't apply here as one of the main appeals of said AUs is "just how bad can we make things without having to worry about the consequences to the status quo?" hence the Ultimate universe mutant who turned into a walking death cloud that Wolverine had to go kill/euthanise because nobody else could survive getting close to him.
Ironically the concept of "making their own treehouse with blackjack and hookers" that applies to mutants making their own nation away from normies could be applied to this site. We started on Reddit under KiA. Internal divisions and power abuse by mods led to the formation of KiA2. Sitewide admin abuse then led to the creation of this site. Many users have no intentions to ever go back to Reddit because of how they are treated for not being on the "correct" political sides yet despite leaving are still harassed at times by trolls who sign up here.
"I just wanted to be left alone/play videogames" as a base concept applies to a lot of things atm.
