I'd be more tolerant of the argument if it were solely based on age. But the reality is Trump has a ton of momentum and it's because of the voter fraud issue, and his incumbency, and people remember how it was better when he was in.
The biggest danger to DeSantis is strategic. If he got distracted and greedy and tried to run against Trump in the primary, he would weaken the political infrastructure of Florida (which he's still trying to secure by clearing out the AG, fixing the Boward County BoE, and solidifying his political capital) by leaving it to someone even less experienced than him. If he lost, the damage could cost him his career and then Florida.
It's really the worst possible decision.
For DeSantis part though, it looks like he is taking the correct response toward dealing with what happened. Because his initial statement he put out amounts to "You barge into my state, violating my laws and jurisdiction, and have the fucking audacity to harass one of my Citizens?! For your own sake, you better have a good reason!"
That's basically all he can do, and it's also a very common refrain among state agencies (so it gains him political support at the administrative level): the feds just constantly roll-in and do whatever the hell they want without telling a single fucking soul, at everyone's detriment.
Well if the FBIs plan was to just intimidate Trump and MAGA, it failed. Miserably. Because the initial reactions are showing the previously fracturing MAGA movement re-solidifying, DeSantis and Trump having a truce with each other, and a lot of MAGA and their adjacents promising war.
Oops.
Dude, there was no need for a Truce.
I guarantee you that one of the reasons DeSantis is being based is because Trump was down in Mar-a-lago, building a political infrastructure, and helping DeSantis solidify Florida.
All that DeSantis-Trump nonsense is 100% Neo-Liberal astro-turfing.
DeSantis is also incredibly young. He has many more chances for presidency beyond this single coming election. A couple more years shoring up his accomplishments and waiting until a guy who has an entire near manmade cult of personality around him is out of the picture is just common sense.
I agree. Very astute. DeSantis should wait until Trump's second term is over.
I really can't see any D candidate winning anything, no matter who the Rs put up in '24.
But what if the DP/press corps manage to win the Presidency with, like, Bootyjudge? Is that even possible? Would Gabbard run as a D? My mind boggles at the possibility of another 4 years of DP rule.
I can. Anywhere where you've got heavy concentrations of beuracracies, government agencies, progressives, college students, and unmarried white suburban women are going to continue to go blue.
They are a national minority. If the right/Republicans can get out the vote, if mail-in voting can be attenuated, watched more closely, or scrapped altogether, the blue faction is toast.
Blue enclaves like SF, LA, CHI, NYC, etc, are lost causes, but their respective states are not.
The Left's position is actually quite fragile. The ethno-nats like to focus on things like 93% of black votes or 73% of Hispanic votes are democrat. But what they don't tell you is how that makes up an enormous swath of their actual voting block.
If black support for Democrats were to fall by 10%, they are guaranteed to lose the election. If it falls all the way to 73% support, they lose every election.
One of the reason the Left lost in 2016 is because millions of voters, somewhere closer to 10 million voted 3rd party rather than Clinton. One of the reasons they "won" in 2020 is because they basically dragged everyone back into voting Biden. They gained back 10 million 3rd party voters, while the Republicans just gained 10 million more voters from the woodwork. Antifa voted Biden, simple as. They can lie all they want, but they absolutely did.
To a degree. The only reason Republicans can't win illinois is only because of Chicago and Detroit. The rest of the state is blood red. This is the problem everywhere. A Democratic Hive City forces everyone else to succumb to it's will based on population. This means you don't need to corrupt tens of thousands of Boards of Elections. You only need to corrupt less than a dozen.
The reason Florida didn't go blue, and didn't have any voting problems, is because the Boward County Board of Elections was basically drummed out years earlier.
