There are multiple youtube channels that have been doing this for years, with hundreds of thousands of subs. Some videos get over a million views. Literally just text to speech reading top voted posts, usually from r/askreddit

Yeah it's a pretty good idea because those videos are pretty catchy. The top comments ever on reddit tend to be at least "interesting" to someone.
Fake Reddit stories being pushed for an agenda. Youtube and Reddit are hand in hand.

I mean, you can turn it off but it means stop using youtube. FFS already.
But somehow people aren't ready for that conversation. Somehow. Post a Piped or Invidious link and people freak out.
