As a black person I cringe when I see other black people seriously saying this because I’m like “do you really want to play this game?” And of course the dude is using social media on his phone. I’ve also asked some with the oppression is everywhere mentality (who grew up in nice suburban homes) why they don’t save money and move to the paradise of their choice. Or I ask why don’t they go to west African leaders and demand reparations for slavery

I think the problem is that the entire history of American blacks is "they were slaves". No national history (as the left has successfully alienated most blacks from patriotism), no history before slavery (because they don't know where they are from). So is it any wonder that people look for something to be proud of? "We made great strides after we gained freedom" doesn't have the same ring as "we were the pharoahs" or "we invented the peanut butter you nigga ass crackas rely on for your sustenance". I feel more bad for those who do say such things than anything.
It must be very damaging to dwell on past slavery to this extent. My family may have been slaves in the 1800s. But I don't know about it, if they were. And no one is telling me that I should have trauma because they were, nor that I can blame all my failings on that. If I had it rubbed in my face 24/7 and was constantly condescended to because "I was a slave", it might be different.

The amount of whining about historical or made-up injustices is directly proportional to the amount of booty that can be had. Both in terms of availability, and the willingness of political forces to weaponize such demands against their political opponents. West Africa doesn't have money. Saudi Arabia has a lot of money, but one would get a whipping if one demanded 'reparations' from them.
You make a great point. Making great strides after gaining freedom should be something to be proud of. Also you see black people of previous generations having no problems calling themselves Americans. I I certainly don't. I wouldn't have joined the Air Force if I thought this wasn't my country. But you are right, the only issue is that all those that hate America insist on staying in America. Also keep in mind that there are those who have a lot to gain with the hyper-focus on American slavery. In one of his books Sowell talked about how slavery should be taught from a global perspective. I think that would help keep people from obsessing over it.
I did my DNA thing and it showed the West African countries I have ancestry from but considering my African and European ancestors were in America by the late 1700s at the latest I have never considered myself anything but American despite the circumstances of slavery.

In one of his books, TS remarks that the first generation of immigrants are just happy to have a better life, but that the second generation is resentful that they have not caught up to the rest of society - and turns to crime. Obviously, blacks are not immigrants, nor first-generation, but I wonder if the same mechanics apply here.
Also keep in mind that there are those who have a lot to gain with the hyper-focus on American slavery. Remember in Black Rednecks and White Liberals where Sowell was saying imagine how different attitudes would be if slavery were taught from a global perspective so those who use it as a crutch wouldn't be able to since pretty much every group has suffered from slavery?
Who is gaining from it? It's not doing them any good, and probably a good deal of harm. It may feel good to blame your own failings on 'white racism', but this only means that you will miss the opportunities that you do have - why bother when whites will foil you anyway. I see the same with some of the immigrants here in Europe. (If they said that they had to work 10x as hard because of racism and actually did so, it would benefit them. But they don't.)
The only ones who gain from it are race hustlers like Sharpton and the Democratic Party. The interests of their mascots is not a consideration.
That is what I meant. Those who keep wanting to talk about "racial oppression" or push the idea that you can't succeed because the white man is holding you back. Or those who keep talking about slavery in America. I meant the race hustlers. They are the only ones gaining from that mindset. People who swallow that nonsense certainly gain nothing but a victim mindset.
Or I ask why don’t they go to west African leaders and demand reparations for slavery
Because, as we've seen in elsewhere in the world, West Africans do not give a single solitary shit, and would probably say something very un-cooth about being better off. God help them if they ask the Arabs. They might actually try to take them.
Exactly. I think Charles Barkley said he is glad his ancestors got on the boat. Not condoning slavery but it’s an objective fact that you would be better off in America
Why would I? America has it's problems like any other country but I recognize the privilege it is to be born here or to be a citizen. I was pointing out how I challenge those who talk about moving to Africa but don't do it. I wouldn't have joined the Air Force if I didn't want to live here.
The problem is that whites have to deal with retards like you keeping them from actually doing anything useful as you shit up the place and blame everyone but yourself for your own problems.
You belong at the bottom of the shithole you crawled out of, yet for some reason, we're supposed to tolerate you.

Why don't you go back to africa?

You did see I was attacking the mindset right? Unless you just don't like blacks period which in that case I'm not going to try to change your mind.
How about you leave to shit up Europe and we'll call it even?
You were monarchs and shit, so it'll be fine.
I live in Europe
Oh good. Stay there so the rest of us don't have to deal with you.
