Hungary doesn't appear to be any sort of outlier to me.
Italy was worst affected by Covid and they only had 5.1% inflation in January 2022.
That's not a huge difference. Also, more deaths don't necessarily mean more economic damage. It's way more complex than that. I also would add that I would easily endure some inflation to secure my people's future existence.
Italy was one of the ridiculously overdone panics. They only just got rid of masks, in June this year.
