“We tend to forget that we are in an arms race with this virus, and that it will evolve ways to evade both our natural and any vaccine-derived immune response,” said Alex Dornburg, assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, who led the study with Townsend.
Or "This is my pitch for why the pharma industry should receive Cold War levels of funding and accountability"
it will evolve ways to evade...natural...immune response...
Yeah, likely by becoming even milder. It's basically another cold, even more so than it was from the start. Even the people who still care if they catch it are saying that.
The people who rushed out to get vaccinated got it first. They described it as hell on earth where they couldn't get out of bed for a week and thought they were going to die.
Then the people who didn't get vaccinated got it. They described it as either a moderately bad cold or "I didn't even know I had it until I got tested".
Either the vaccine made things a lot worse, or the people who bought into it deluded themselves into making themselves sicker than they actually were because if the virus wasn't a big deal, they just got an experimental gene therapy over a seasonal cold. Either way, all it did was make me even more skeptical.

Covid 19 is a light cold. Why would I get vaccinated against a light cold
Almost everyone I know has had it.

Could be nocebo. If you believe something will cause pain, it can.
The prodding of the Covid test, plus the test result and anxiety, could definitely create some negative reactions in its own.
Anyone not afraid of Covid won’t experience nocebo, so you would expect less severe cases from that alone.
