These eco nutjob politicians have no idea what they're doing. They're just blindly following their ideologies with no idea of the consequences.

You're being far too generous here. Whilst I agree they're a bunch of short-sighted idiots, the direct consequences of their actions will not directly effect them in any meaningful way. "Build back better" requires destroying the current system first. They don't care, because they think that only their opponents and the peasants will suffer for their actions.
