I get it.
It's sad, because like with so many aspects - be it government, legal, cultural, racial, sex-based, etc. - the issue often comes down to culture.
Even though my distaste for abortion has done nothing but grow over the years, my ideal society would probably still have it as a fall back, with severe limitations. I want people to have that fallback...I also want it to viewed as a last resort, with severe moral implications.
Same goes for single parents and the like. I don't think you should kill babies. I also don't think we should have a society where there are tons of single parents doing shit jobs raising their kids. And I'd love to be able to trust the government, etc.
Our foundations have rotted severely, it's hard to propose solutions because both our government and society are decayed. So any solution will be built on unstable grounds.
People need to sort themselves out, and the surrounding culture. But that doesn't seem to be happening. So who can we trust to dictate that to the people? Because that system is also corrupt...
I think the decay is too pervasive culturally and socially. And our world is very globalized so that makes any attempts at repair seemingly impossible. It looks pretty grim.
