I'm old enough to remember when Valve games didn't have voice chat, and one of those 3 were the only option you had. Well, Roger Wilco, too, but that has been dead long enough that its corpse can buy beer. :p
I much prefer Mumble these days, as mumble is open source, anyone can run a server, and there are no limits on how many people can simultaneously connect.
