Finally. This was at the core of why people voted for Brexit. In the UK (I'm dual US/UK) what would happen over and over is that a politician would run on robustly "shutting the borders", then get in for it, then stand up in Westminster and give a searing speech on the same subject, then maybe even get legislation passed, then...nothing would happen. Borders stayed just as open as before.

When questioned on why the borders remained the same after a Westminster vote, the politician would then throw up their hands and say "Welp, sorry, the ECHR overrulled our Westminster legislation, nothing we can do."

Over and over and over, as thousands of little British girls got gang raped by the imports. As hundreds died in bombings and jihadi attacks. As anyone who lived near the import meccas were abused and harrassed, sometimes in their own homes via molotovs, on the daily.

All brexiteers had assumed that by voting Brexit, they were voting for the UK to automatically withdraw from the evil ECHR, but no, Boris the Traitor made sure that Brexit did not, in fact, mean Brexit when he "designed" the final Brexit deal.

Nigel was the only one sounding the alarm.

Forgive me if I do not hold my breath to see if this ECHR withdrawal bill ever actually passes. They've got horrible, devious form on this.

I'd go so far as to say it's what the entire fucking vote was about.

Fisheries? NHS? Bollocks. It was all about telling Europe that we are not on board with their project to flood the continent with 3rd worlders who hate us.

Ha! I hadn't even thought of that. Depressingly, I think that's a distinct possibility.
