Partly their own fault at this point after years of "My fellow whites" which then gets immediately followed up by "I'm not white!" when called out on anything.

Repeated perpetuation of both in group bias and racial tensions when useful will lead to the inevitable consequences of race riots where starting divides are made entirely on skin colour. It won't matter how much someone cries out "I'm not actually white" to a crowd of non whites because the crowd will be a bloodthirsty mob that cares little for anything except the beat down on a target identified entirely by appearance.

Then again the narcissists fueling all this assume they will be safe in ivory towers gated communities with private security because remember ACAB but private hires are totally going to always do what they are told when paid... once money loses all inherent value 🙄
