Or just didn't fully think through what we were signing up for. If "treated normally" implies "make no moral distinction", then wouldn't one implication of that be that society wouldn't be able to preference heterosexual relationships over homosexual ones in the public discourse?
You hear this all the time from these teachers when they say things like "If I'm straight and talk about going to dinner with my husband, why can't I do do the same thing if I'm gay?" Because they see no moral difference, therefore to preference one over the other in any way is to stigmatize.
Meanwhile us stupid rubes interpreted "treated normally" as something more like "be polite around them and don't try to throw them off of rooftops or get them fired from their jobs if they seem otherwise normal and well-adjusted."
Since I believe there should be a moral distinction between the two -- if for no other reason than heterosexual relationships are rooted in nature and are the basis for the continuation of the species -- then I'm now forced to reject the premise that the gays should be "treated normally". Make it illegal, bring back the social stigma, etc...
That's just it. We achieved respect for the gays, but they were still uncomfortable. Whether it was just weakness of character or it being too soon since they were persecuted, they decided it wasn't enough until they were considered normal. Until, despite being a small percentage of the population, being gay was considered as common as being a dude or chick.
We see the same thing from trannies. They aren't comfortable with themselves until enough people around them are like them. Thus the child grooming, and they won't stop untill the entire world looks like the fucking castro. If they just just grow a spine and accept themselves, truly, we wouldn't be in this mess.
It's not even necessarily a numbers game: they just don't think there's a moral difference, therefore treating one as "normal" and one as "abnormal" (even if that's objectively true based on statistics) is equivalent to making a moral judgment against the "abnormal" case. Society is still treating the gays differently (even if they're being polite about it), therefore society is acting immorally and will continue to act immorally until both lifestyles are treated as equally valid.
It's also why we have to go around pretending that we're all at equal risk of contracting AIDS instead of taking the Norm MacDonald approach of "we already have a cure for AIDS: don't fuck other dudes in the ass".
Trannies will be the same way: you will not be allowed to express a preference for normal people or trannies, because expressing that preference will be considered immoral.
I don't advocate discrimination against the LGB's myself, with the caveat that I do advocate discrimination against assholes, protected class or not. The Christians were right about gay marriage being a bad idea, but then I consider straight marriage to be an anti-male scam so I don't really see marriage in its current form to be a benefit.
The T's on the other hand deserve everything they get and more. That's all I can really say since last time I advocated my preferred solution to the troon problem I got rule 2'ed.

No fault divorce laws, unqualified alimony, the complete destruction of marriage contracts, child custody/child support, workplace laws forcing companies to hire women, the deluth model of domestic violence, social welfare programs, etc.. They cut out all protections to men and amped up all benefits to women, then wonder why marriage rates have been collapsing.
When crazy conservatives said that leftists were trying to destroy marriage, they were right, but Gay Marriage was just one in a long line of changes to do so.
Absolutely. I will say that the Christians could have done with better messaging on the gay marriage issue though. It's kind of hard to give a shit about "the sanctity of marriage" when thots looking for a payday destroyed that decades before anyone gave a shit about the gays.
Christian messaging on gay marriage was made more difficult due to the fact they caved on things like women's suffrage. The left (justifiably, based on their past experience) sees Christian opposition to the latest social fad as temporary.
They didn't destroy anything. God's order involves being married, the sacred union between a man and a woman. There is no "other way". The fact that many women have been destroyed and turned into horrible sluts that will never properly obey a man doesn't change that.
