You do realize Mercedes the car was named after a girl? Also Mercedes was the main characters fiance in the Count of Monte Cristo a famous novel published almost 180 years ago... but I guess not famous enough....

That and Mercedes were not even imported to the USA until 1952, she was born in 1950.
