I’m not white either and to this day Spider-Man and Superman comic books make up the bulk of my collection. I identified with them because of their idealism and their desire to see the best in everyone. This notion that everyone has to “see themselves” is beyond ridiculous

I found Alex Keaton and Carlton Banks equally relatable as a youngster. The fact that they looked nothing alike had little to do with it.
