After this thread that I created, I watched the movie today after the good recommendations of the community. And they were spot on, it is a great Viking movie, with no Woke or race swapping bullshit. And with a great "Celtic" soundtrack! Definitely a win and a ray of light in this ocean of mediocrity that we are living in. I feel really motivated after seeing it and maybe I will watch it again.

Occasionally one slips through, like Reacher, you just have to swim through a lot of sewage to find those golden nuggets.
I'm not signing up with Disney+ for The Mandalorian.
I'm not signing up with Amazon again for Reacher.
I'm not spending excessive amounts of money to go to the theater because ONE movie breaks the mold and doesn't insult me.
I haven't paid for media since the first dvd player that could play back mpegs came out.
But I will still go to a theater 2-3 times a year mostly for the nostalgia of it.
Are you sure there's no underlying message or agenda? I find that hard to believe for a Hollywood movie
There have been some neopagans on TG that complained it is a negative portrayal of paganism, while other pagans have accused the first group of not having a good understanding of Ásatrú and said it was a positive portrayal. If you have to get deep into the intricacies of neopaganism to find objection to the film, it's probably not woke, and certainly not intentionally.
The portrayal of Viking slavery is wrong. They had it, yes, but the idea that a slave was always a slave and would never be set free because they were considered inherently inferior is bullshit. Not sure if that was a "slavery is bad, mmkay" message or just an error. That they portray the gates of Hel as hot is a pretty bad error; I mean, that's fucking Norse Myth 101 -- all the bad stuff is cold.
Ugh, yeah, desert people think Hell is hot. Northern people think Hell is cold. I've heard tell that the early missionaries had this problem, with their depiction of desert-dweller Hell backfiring with the Inuit, who were more than excited about learning how to get to a place that's totally on fire.
Yes.
