We know tvtropes is very sjw slanted. But the all the trops isnt any better. Not to mention how unstable the site is. We need an alternative.

It used to be rad. That autism you speak of was a good thing. Users like that created a very structured, logical protocol for describing the "theory of entertainment". It was organized in a much more logical way than Wikipedia in fact. At some point their forums got inundated with radfems and otherkin and they started focusing on the "community" over everything else. Focus on building a community meant you had to communicate on the forums and agree with the dominant politics (anti-hate-speech and such) to have any sway in editing. Otherwise your edits could be undone. I had no interest in that and left. I could see what it was turning into. Now when I want to look up tropes in media I usually look at competing wikis, but those are usually full of ads and have a very ugly UI.
I've often considered creating my own wiki-alternative or distributed database format, and if I were to do so it would be much closer to something like TVTropes than Wikipedia. Though I'd try to avoid the thing where someone "fixes" an error by replying with a bullet point, and then someone else replies with a second level of bullet points, and so on, ad infinitum.
Are you still working on the site?
Correct. To prevent downspiraling you need active moderators and that means you need to pay someone, which means the site needs to be profitable
Same way that wikipedia, reddit, the SCP Foundation, basically any commons area is fagged and marxed up. Look who moderates the sites. They do it for free.
oh man I want to forget THAT happened.
I miss the days when it was basically 1 level removed from /x/. There's too much "community" and (ugh) L O R E for me now.
It was best when it was like stumbling upon some random file of weird shit in the CIA's online archive. (I'm not kidding! They were dabbling with astral projection to Mars and God knows what else)
That stuff was kinda cool like 10 years ago when it was first created and focused on horror, now it's a gay hugbox for furry pedos to write entries about their tulpas and because the mod team is also a bunch of degenerate trannies they just rubber-stamp eachothers' garbage as soon as its submitted.
they do it for free.
I think that site was where I first heard of the “bury your gay tropes”. Seemed to be whining if anything bad happens to a gay character
Intersectionality is a socialist theory that handwaves all individuality away by claiming individuals are the sum of collective stereotypes without any actual basis behind it. It's one of the primary ways narcissistic libtards express mental sloth. So of course they'd gravitate to tropes, as it's functionally identical for their vapid entertainment. Obsessiveness over tropes and avoiding them led directly to postmodern writing and subverting expectations of good content.
Are you referring to the content or the administration/editors/etc. themselves?
I'm not all that familiar with All The Tropes, but it's my understanding that they took their initial data from TV Tropes under a Creative Commons license, so it might just be a matter of editing the woke shit out.
Because any organization that is not actively conservative will drift to the left over time.
This happens because leftists are pathologically obsessed with infiltrating power structures, spending their entire lives playing a game that the average milquetoast conservative doesn't even realize is going on all around them.
GethN7 didn't go regressive as far as I know, and I should note he did mirror tv tropes articles from before the creative commons license switch.
The reason the all the tropes has less content is because he refuses to allow the mirroring of new content because of the ND terms, and in my oppinion he should ignore it and declare fair use if anyone objects.
If there is regressive leftist drivel in an article then said drivel should be removed.
I used to love TV Tropes back in the day. As a writer, I loved how it explored the use and purpose of tropes, rather than dismissing them all as "clichés," like my English teachers did.
Then, they removed all of the tropes about rape, with the claim that it was driving away advertisers. Bear in mind, this was in 2012, before wokeness had hit critical mass. The rape tropes were reinstated later, but the writing was on the wall.
Same thing wrong with the internet everywhere, perma-online bunkertroons.
