Saw enough when I heard they made Uncle Phil a politician that only picked up Will for optics. They butchered a caring and loving father figure for “everything is shades of grey and gloomy.”
I loved how in the original Uncle Phil let’s Will’s biological dad have it when he lets Will down again. He was a great father figure. Guess you can’t have positive roles
Thankfully, we are in the day and age where current media really does not matter. Pirate/buy on clearance the old stuff on DVD and tell modern media to stuff it.
Wow. I have not heard a single thing about this show that makes it sound good.
In the original Phil was often annoyed by Will but loved him- remember that epic scene when the white cops jailed Will & Carlton while driving the sports car of Phil's partner? One of the lines when he's grilling the cops is him asking if they called their parents and he responded "No, because we're their parents". Not parent and guardian, just parents.
Also I recall Will making a lot of bald jokes at Uncle Phil's expense...
Lots of fat jokes too but Uncle Phil either retorted or gave the mean eye for comedic value. It was a back and forth that some families have that is just fun and games.

Will thought he was marrying Uncle Phil.
