That smug argument on masks that comes out so much is the most irritating of them. "What is the downside to wearing a mask?"
How about tell me the upside? Upside to pants is I don't have sweaty butt crack all over everything. I choose to wear at least shorts and a t-shirt at a minimum pretty much always because I want to. Just like I choose to wear shoes because it keeps my feet off the hot pavement or from stepping on things I don't want to. This mask on the other hand, it makes my glasses fog, makes my face feel gross and humid. I'm covering outlets of my body when I want to talk or breathe. I wouldn't keep underwear on trying to take a shit or put in earplugs when I'm trying to hear something, so why would I put a mask on when I'm trying to breathe? Because I still haven't been provided an upside, at least one that's based on facts and data.
"What is the downside to wearing a mask?" says someone on camera, not wearing a mask, in a room full of people.
Why is he not wearing a mask?
If it was no big deal he'd be wearing a mask just like he's wearing pants. There's definitely reasons he's not wearing a mask and neither is anyone else on the panel.
I remember wearing a mask on a train that had the heat on, but no ventilation at all, and I was literally struggling to breath so I had to take it off. In the mind of these zealots keeping the mask on takes priority to being able to breath properly.
They try to make us wear masks at work. Almost none of us actually do it, and if we do, we never wear it properly.
Management always wonders why. It's almost like we fucking load trucks and get really sweaty during our intense manual labor job. It's almost like cutting off half our oxygen supply lowers our performance and makes it more difficult to do anything. But what would we know.
Icing on the cake is that it's almost always some Karen from upstairs who comes in all dolled up with long nails, her hair done up, makeup on, etc. who then proceeds to tell me to put a mask on while I have enough sweat running down my face that I can quite literally shake it off like a dog.
Yeah, I hate that foggy glasses shit. I don't even wear a scarf in cold weather because of fogging.
And the real reason humans started covering their butts was to keep gross stuff getting UP their sweaty butt cracks. Ever sit outside on natural stuff buck nekkid? Yeah, always know where your towel is. Anyway, right there is probably the oldest example of an argument for something (as in wearing clothes) is twisted to be about everyone else other than yourself ...
As far as the title goes, though, I think foundations kind of take on a life of their own independent of the people who founded them, like Frankenstein's monster.
