Funny story. An old coupled moved up from California to my neighborhood. One of the things they said in a conversation is that so many people installed solar panels where they lived they started to cut into the power company's bottom line. So what did the power company do? Raise prices.
That's not strictly true - a utility has to size its operation to peak demand, but only gets paid according to the average. It is better for them if those peaks are blunted so they don't have to install extra capacity that will sit idle 95% of the time.
Only in Clown World would a utility company want you to use less of their utilities.
