If Tim really thought it was a good idea he would have epic put out their own android based os with the google play store removed along with the warning for installing outside the play store.

Nothing says freedom like your government forcing you to change how your store operates to allow a competitor in on the platform you built. No one buys an iPhone and is shocked that it’s a walled garden. And android is already open.
