Right, they already get away with the crime and it's not like they get anything out of telling the truth. How often do false rape accusers have a sudden change of heart and tell the truth out of a moral duty? Literally never. You can't make a situation worse if it's already mathematically as bad as it can get.

Figuratively never. There has been once or twice when they've pled guilty, usually with a deflecting admission like "my parents made me accuse him".
