I saw/heard this happen to a guy, while I was on res the first time. Though I think he actually ended up getting charged with something (creeping on women, essentially)...
Then someone who did something worse, and was a literal aggressive drunkard (irony incoming) got "promoted" to RA, because he was "ethnic", and a Muslim (yes, yes, a Muslim alcoholic), and worked as a security guard, outside of campus, so was "experienced".
On... Two occasions, I had something worse than this, happen to me. Not for "harassment" (though accusations did, no doubt, prejudice those in charge against me), but for simply... Not playing the bullshit game, and not being in the right "clique"...
The second time, I lost everything. My job. My home. My money. My possessions. Briefly, my freedom. And then I lost my degree...
I've never really recovered from that.
Again, accusations played a part, but mainly it was just... Toxic campus politics, false accusations of other things (that I was a "danger", to others. That I would "hurt" someone else, because I was depresed).
If I knew better, and had the money, I would have sued the shit out of them...
Anyway, point is... Australian college "residences" are irretrievably fucked. They destroy men's lives, including this guy's, including people I know, and including mine...
I'm not sure I see any way out, for that "sector", except the complete destruction of the "residence" system, and the removal of all of this "paralegal", extra-judicial, "he said she said" bullshit...
Dark times, and the most "personally relevant" article I have seen in some time...
