They share a ancestral influence from Starflight, which is also a great game. The Genesis version had one of those funky Tengen carts and really terrifying, jarring, harsh synths.
Only played starflght 2 which was fun enough. Even made a spreadsheet to plot trade routes.
Ah the olden days before in-game journals and quest logs made everything too easy.
