They feel they have little/nothing of their own to lose. In some cases, legitimately so (massive student debts and poor job prospects), and others blissfully unaware of their middle-class privileged upbringings. And then they've been radicalised by social media (and sometimes mainstream media) just as much as anybody on the alt/far right.
They never have any idea of what comes next, once they've burned capitalism to the ground, though. They can't all be the ruling class of their communist utopia, and they're clearly not prepared to work in the fields or the mines. What will be left? - tens of millions dead, most of our technology gone, a smoldering dystopia run by progressive stack? (Probably still run by straight white males too, just ones that identify as trans/woman/lesbian?)
