It's hilariously sad how those of us following the story online already knew all of this literally the day after it happened (a lot of it on the night of thanks to 4chan) but the media got everything criminally wrong. Is it too much to hope that the ignorant fools trying to argue with us will now say "Sorry bro I guess you were right about that too." and stop consuming MSM?

You are asking way too much, especially with that last part about not trusting corporate media anymore. You're asking them to reassess their entire worldview and risk their social status, and that is assuming they are even capable of recognizing they were wrong.
I guess what really grinds my gears is how we have the Internet and all the world's information at our fingertips, and people are more ignorant of daily events than ever. I could forgive people 100 years ago having only the local newspaper to believe, but now the press is completely redundant and would have already been dead and buried if a certain segment of the population weren't propping them up as oracles of truth.

Annie Oakley went on a glorious six year long legal rampage after newspapers libeled her back in 1904 So yeah, nothing new.
