You are asking way too much, especially with that last part about not trusting corporate media anymore. You're asking them to reassess their entire worldview and risk their social status, and that is assuming they are even capable of recognizing they were wrong.
I guess what really grinds my gears is how we have the Internet and all the world's information at our fingertips, and people are more ignorant of daily events than ever. I could forgive people 100 years ago having only the local newspaper to believe, but now the press is completely redundant and would have already been dead and buried if a certain segment of the population weren't propping them up as oracles of truth.
