There was an attempt to make a show in Canada where they had the idea of what if one gender disappeared. The production company wanted to target a town and run the experiment, they managed to find a town where they could remove all the women from the town and produce it. When they tried to do same to simulate the opposite they couldn't find a single town in the entire country where they could remove all the males. If they did that the essential services would be shutdown and the town would collapse.
