I posted this comment: https://files.catbox.moe/8g62zt.png (archive link).
Everything I said is historical facts which are public knowledge and widely agreed upon. I did not break any of the rules, but it got deleted anyways.
If any other country had acted in this way, it would be called colonialism and everybody would be encouraged to criticize it, but apparently the holy protected untouchable country of Israel can do whatever they want, and nobody is allowed to criticize it.
Even many Jews agree with the points in my post:
https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/05/21/u-s-jews-have-widely-differing-views-on-israel/
But because I am not one of God's Chosen People, I am not allowed to even post simple objective facts.
Does the community think that my comment was acceptable, or does the community agree with the moderator that my comment should not be allowed on this site?
The purpose of shadow banning is to make people think that they are not banned, even though they are banned. By its nature it is deceptive.
This leads to a situation where everybody is censored, but nobody realizes that they are being censored. Because people do not realize they are being censored, they do not fight back against the censorship.
And nobody even knows exactly what is being censored, it is up to the whim of the admins. It concentrates all of the power into the admins, now a single admin can control what millions of people see (and don't see), without anybody even realizing it's happening. It is extremely insidious.
Transparency and honesty are incredibly important, you cannot have a society without those two principles. People need to understand what is happening, and why it is happening. Shadow banning is the complete opposite of that.
I noticed it because I went back to the post and refreshed it, it's also how I noticed the shadow banning on YouTube (where comments are silently removed without anybody noticing).
I agree that this is a mild form of shadow banning (compared to other much worse sites), but it is still shadow banning.
This isn't what a shadowban is. You got a notification when your comment was removed, so there's no shadow, and we can see all your other posts, so there's no ban.
Shadowbanning is when you flag an account so that any posts or comments made from it only shows up for that same account and nobody else, the comments aren't even replaced with a [removed], they're just invisible to everyone else. It's useful against spammers, but like every other useful thing ever it's widely abused.
I agree that users being able to see their own removed posts like they were still there is kinda stupid - it's useful if you wrote a long post and got it removed due to a single word based on some dumb rule, so then you can copypaste it, change the offending part, and repost it. But it should be clearly indicated that the post is removed. Our janny works around it by replying with a mod comment, though, and it's something .win devs need to fix, jannies can't do much about it.
fyi, shadowing comments DOES exist on win, but i dont know if the full account is in effect.
That's fair, I agree it is something that needs to be fixed in
.win
, since it doesn't seem to be specific to KiA2.
