Au contraire, they were revolutionaries. Unless you accept that they were merely preserving the American Revolution, which is what they themselves argued.
It wasn't based on skin color, Mr. British or whatever freakazoid you are, as there were many free blacks around.
Just imagine erasing the countless whites (Republicans, for that matter) who were lynched for things like attempting to vote.
Hahahaha. Yes, it's "unequal sentencing" and not grossly disproportionate rates of offending that's the issue.
Imagine being such a white POS that you claim that blacks were still slaves after abolition.
Thomas Sowell has already conclusively demonstrated that slavery was, if anything, a net burden on the places in question.
It's not fog, Johnny. That too, is condensation.
Why are you using reality to counter this poor mans creation mythology? All slavery was bad, everything was racist, the federal government was the good guys, and we needed the civil rights act to end racial discrimination, but it still occurs everywhere.
Why waste your time with this idiot. He sees blacks as helpless victims who aren’t capable of taking any responsibility in their lives. Slavery had an effect no doubt but to use that as an excuse today is a bit ridiculous while ignoring other pressing issues.
I was actually hoping he'd take me up on the "were the Confederates Revolutionaries or Conservatives?" Because that is quite an interesting question. However, it's doubtful whether one could have an interesting debate with someone who can only repeat pre-baked shibboleths.
Slavery just socialized some of the labor cost and put more wealth in the hands of slave owners at the expense of everyone else. The only circumstance when slavery will increase the output of a society is when the labor supply just doesn't exist, true during very early colonial period but not during the revolution and certainly not during antebellum period.
