Why it wouldn't be clicking for me is there's so many things in the presentation that tick off leftist garbage boxes-pink hair chick, godawful woman voice narration, terrible music, etc. That's not to say that it is bad, but those are all just ingrained as red flags because so much that ticks those boxes has been bad.
I'm probably totally unhyped anyway, because I don't really get excited for new games anymore and I didn't really like Left4Dead anyway.
A rip-off of a classic game that was polished enough to have pretty much already nailed the formula, published by a soulless woke megacorp, developed by devs who's last multiplayer game died on its feet?
The most puzzling thing is why you expected to like it. Most ripoffs are inferior to the original, and the original is still available, there's no reason for anyone to play this except for getting suckered by the fake hype marketing.
I think is fine, If you liked L4Dead 2 this will probably be the same.
I am a lot less hyped about games that I used to be. Having an industry hate you and openly mock and insult tends to have some impact.
That being said, I would not mind playing this with a friend. I've been itching to play a game with a friend of mine, we used to play a ton of wow and lol 2015, man does it not seems like a different era. Is been 6-7 years and the entire western world went mad in hyperdrive.
Other then the purple hair (probably self insert) and the fact that the girls have no boobs, the characters seem nice enough. Surprised that they allowed a white male character.
Yeah, I'm probably just getting cynical in my old age of [checks notes] 38 years...

Dunno how you feel about minecraft clones, but 7 Days to Die is pretty fun for a game that's been in Alpha for seven years. multiplayer is baked in, though you can run a dedicated server if you want.
Man its just... i don't even know. I wanted to like it but the moment i saw actual gameplay it just looked really fucking mediocre. Same thing with vermintide.
I think part of it is the characters, the l4d1/2 characters were interesting (outside of rochelle, obviously) and it made the game fun.
I'd say it's a bad combination of what is being shown off and how: if you're doing the "here are the characters and their characteristics" thing, those characters need to be more noteworthy; if you're using serviceable-but-uninspiring characters like these, you need to do something more interesting to show them off.
For a couple of examples I like better, Borderlands 2 had A Meat Bicycle Built For Two which has a plot and is about a more interesting character, and League of Legends had Welcome Aboard, which has a better framing device, is about a more interesting cast and is actually funny.
It's not clicking because you know it's not as good a game as it should be.
It isn't doing anything other games like Left 4 Dead and Vermintide haven't already done and done more enthusiastically.
Also, your common-sense radar is going off as you realize that NONE of the characters are interesting or noteworthy, but are typical Leftist tropes as you've seen in every single other AAA game produced since 2014.
It's impossible to get excited to play as more Leftist approved Liberals in a zombie apocalypse where we already know most of the actual survivors in that instance would be military-trained males, especially of the white variety. Yet there isn't one able-bodied, 20 - 30 something white male character to be seen. Purposely left out.
The replacements for said character also aren't believable. You accept them because they're there, but we all know reality and expectations don't fit the mold they're trying to sell you.
What you're feeling is perceptive dissonance.
That's just from the outset of the visual and sociopolitical presentation.
The other part of that nonchalant feeling comes from what most of us feel for these mediocre games because, well, they're mediocre. Nothing in the gameplay is more immersive, dynamic, or even visually appealing compared to its relative contemporaries (or even the games that came before it). No new physics, no new weapons, nothing distinct or original.
It's the perfect example of a serviceable piece of Leftist approved propaganda. Just enough to sate the entertainment thirst of people who don't know better, but not enough to rope in people who do know better.
Makes sense. I mean, hell, even left 4 dead made the characters interesting. They had believable conversations, reacted like a real human being would react. These just feel like generic action flick cliches chewed up and spit out in your face.

Fair enough. lol
True.

I dunno. It's like I feel I should like it, but there's some undefinable element missing.

I'm also calling it that the white male character will be missing in most of their advertising.

Runs pretty good on Linux too, lol.

Maybe it'll be good but i have zero hype.
To be fair, even rochelle had a certain charm.

"you're probably wondering how I got here" cliche doesn't help, lmao.
That too.

Admittedly, it's a 3 minute teaser, so obviously there's not a lot of story there, but nothing's drawing me in about it.
