There's definitely something about controlling women via telling them they're not allowed to date anyone.

Who does all these things now?

tells her how to dress
tells her she's not allowed to date
rells her what emotions she's allowed or required to express

Answer: her job

Her job is her husband, and her job is telling her that she's not allowed to date other people.
