The "Green Movement" is nothing more than a scheme to make money. There's huge amounts of money to be made in the energy sector and the oil industry already has it's rich that have monopolies or near full control. Politicians and elites just want to get in Green early so that they can ensure that their family will have huge amounts of wealth for generations to come.
The technology is nowhere near ready for it to be practical yet.
The mining of rare earth metals that it takes is an ecological nightmare that destroys entire ecosystems where mines are located. As a side-note: China pretty much has a monopoloy on rare earth metals right now as well. Surprise!
In addition, "Green" energy still requires a huge amount of plastics as well. Plastics are made with what?
The answer: Oil, of course.
Most importantly, the biggest contributors to carbon output are pointless international transport, China, and India. Without them on board and fully cooperating, it's literally pointless.
Look at the weather channel and their website. So much of it is now "climate change" and human interest stories surrounding that. They made a podcast a couple years ago named "warming signs" where some affluent woman just talks about how its real and fearmongers.
They used to just doomsday hurricanes but hurricanes are seasonal.There was even backlash due to the excessive fearmongering of hurricane florence that may have led to people not taking michael seriously.
It's worth noting that climate change as an issue routinely polls as at or near the bottom of voter's concerns, and this has been the case for literal decades.
They're taking on an impossible feat here, trying to get the public to care about this but at this point, given the kind of person in charge? I think they like the fact they're brute-force shoving this one through in the face of the public's apathy. At this point it feels like a lot of the chaos going on is punishing the public for daring to show signs of populism. The elite's goals don't have to make sense, and it's our place to shut up and take it.
