Don't connect it to the internet, and they won't be able to.
So, you won't be able to sell your own tv without their permission or use if it you don't subscribe to their coming service. That's what this is really about.
This. There's a bit of schadenfreude in knowing that the looters are getting screwed over by this "feature", but this is just one other story in a massive line illustrating that you don't actually own any of this "smart" crap, and that all the online requirements just mean you can get disconnected at any time. I'd ask when the average person is going to wake up and stop wasting their money on this junk but I'm pretty sure it's not going to happen even if robots come around literally plugging them into something like the Matrix.
"But I NEED my coffee pot to have an internet connection! How else will it know when the fridge is out of milk?"
That's why you ALWAYS leave a note!
This is a little bit conspiracy theory don't you think?
Shutting off legally purchased TVs wouldn't go down well.
Samsung is one of the groups pushing against right to repair laws. They specifically mention secondary market and legal purchaser. If you bought it second hand direct from the other, how do you prove it was yours to a digital agent?
As for the subscription service, it is a bit conspiracy theory, but with all these other digital services and Samsung already having their own streaming networks, it's not a stretch. Subscription services is one of the most lucrative cows to ever milk. For example, my weather app, when I went to first purchase it, it was $6 for the full app (remove ads, storm tracking, hurricane prediction, aiport/wind info etc.) When I got it for $4, it was only to remove ads and track storms. Hurricane path prediction and other important data such as this was suddenly a subscription service. They get their information and graphics supplied free from the US Weather Service and NOAA, so there shouldn't be a continuing fee. However, here we are.
I use Weawow. Totally free.
Are you serious?
No you wouldn't think it would go down well, but they've been conditioning people for decades. Planned obsolescence, forced upgrades, always online, right to repair. It's one reason Tesla doesn't want you to service their cars.
bruh literally half your posts are conspiracy theories about chicks/ wtf are you sayin here lmao
Is it a conspiracy when two G7 nations have admitted it?
That would, in fact, be by definition a conspiracy, yes.
a secret plan by a group to do something unlawful or harmful.
the action of plotting or conspiring.
What do you think?
Yeah because a conspira is a group of people planning something, usually in secret, and I dont think it was announced before?
Have you been alive in any of the last 5, 10, 20 years?
