I'm starting to think, part of the reason some transition or have surgery might be a result of depression. Like suicide, self-harm, maybe partially, transitioning is another side effect of it.
part of the reason some transition or have surgery might be a result of depression
It is almost invariably people who feel (for reasons of highly variable legitimacy) that they are 'failing' or will 'fail' as their biological sex.
That could be a man who doesn't feel he's tall enough, strong enough, or endowed and virile enough, or can't bare the pressure of the expectation to go out and make enough money to feed a family.
It could be a woman who doesn't feel she's attractive enough, finds her treatment by men patronizing, is fearful of pregnancy, can't stand the idea of being a babysitter for 18 years... Literally any reason people can think of to hate the hand that life dealt them could push them to percieve greener pastures in the life of the opposite sex.
They want some of that special preferential treatment and abdication of accountability for themselves.
I've been seeing people online for nearly 10 straight years saying thing like "Why waste all that blood sweat and tears trying and failing at life when you could dress up cute and surrender your boipussi to Chad?" - Men deciding they'd rather suck a successful man's dick than work a 9-5 themselves. They're sandwiched right between the "The feel when no mommy gf" threads made by men desperately wanting someone else to take care of them.
It's not really surprising that these people want to abolish gender roles.
The thing they don't seem to understand is that we simply cant. Our biology, our fucking lizard brains, just won't fucking allow it. Chad isn't going to bankroll you for your boipussi and breadwinner stacy isn't going to be settling with - or more crucially, reproducing with a manchild, because these things are just ultimately not in our control.
We are literal slaves to the most ancient, primitive parts of our brains when it comes to this. All that we will get for trying to resist biology is a plumetting birth rate. And that's what we've had for the last 100 years that we've been frolicking with this nonsense.
I've read a couple of articles where someone regretted transitioning they were really depressed from a multiple of reasons. It has been a while, but if I remember correctly he got fired, wife left him and a few other things.
Read some guy's account of life after surgery and it was the only time I've ever even thought about suicide; I've blocked out the details but just the daily routine he had to do to not be septic or whatever was soul crushing just to read about.
People think the 50%-ish suicide rate is the sign of mental illness... but no, that's the most sane decision they've made in the whole process.
I read it too... The idea of doing that, every day... No thank you! I'm sure if I ever did that, I would forget about having to do it and die. Quoting Richard Hammond, if I were a woman, and had to take the pill every day... Suffice to say, I would be pregnant a lot!

Surgery used to be a last resort when all else has failed and they've ruled out any possible underlying cause
HA! Today, if the surgery is not prescribed IMMEDIATELY you are a bigot, and need to be cancelled! And if you throw a temper-tantrum of normal level, you get the surgery.
In some cases probably. Autogynephilia and homosexuality seem to be more common motivators for the "lesbians" and "straight" ones respectively. Either way transitioning tends to make mental illness worse and not better. Which is fine by me. I'm for anything that increases the tranny suicide rate.

I feel like you’re on to something with this NGL

AKA, you are absolutely right :P
And when they DONT get the surgery, they are STILL a woman BIGOT!!!
+ Spez is overseeing a tranny groomer cult, but he allows it because the trannies jannie for free.
Their minds: "Slave labor FTW!"
It's much simpler. It's people who are so greatly harmed by women's hatred that they do this to avoid being their target.

I am not even going to look that up//
Auto - self, gyn - uterus(? same root as gynecologist, I'm guessing Greek), philia - fetish)
It's a man who gets off on the idea of himself as a lesbian.
