Well, she got money from Comcast to allow them to RE-WRITE A SPEECH she was giving, and they inserted an entire paragraph that was straight from their marketing department right into the middle of the speech.
And just like Anchorman she read the fucking thing. Basically the only time a commercial appeared in the middle of a politicians speech.
"...Despite pleas from hospital CEOs and local public health authorities, is that for the most part, local elected officials were not willing to make the tough decisions, and I needed to make a decision...
A couple of questions, because I'm not familiar with this at all
When she says "A more traditional public health model" does she mean that healthcare administrators no longer get to decide who gets to have a business?
Also, which "tough decisions" is she talking about? I can't figure it out from the video...

Essentially, actually, yes. Specifically she was talking about local elected officials making local decisions, that was the model she was primarily talking about. Basically, she'd like to let local officials make decisions, but they're not making the decisions she wants, so she won't let them make decisions.
Also, which "tough decisions" is she talking about? I can't figure it out from the video...
Specifically she was talking about authoritarianism via mask mandates and, presumably down the line, the logic will apply to the passports everyone knows are coming. Local representatives wanted to keep things open, to not do that was the tough decision they were unwilling to make.
I am closer to city than rural, personally, but from what I've seen, no. Even here, the more "rural" feeling shops (gun stores, farm supply, building supply stores, etc.) just ignore it if they think they can get away with it, and out even just a bit from the cities, there's plenty of based signs and flags, and businesses again ignore it if they can get away with it, sometimes even smearing it in their faces.
A few more rural stores skirted the restrictions last time, when they started to loosen, saying that you have to wear a mask, but if you don't wear a mask, they'll assume you have a good reason.
That said, in my area, 98% of businesses comply, many even going so far last time as to hire what I call "gargoyles;" people whose sole job is to sit at the door and stop people who don't have masks. There's some resistance, but for the most part businesses and people want to be Good Citizens.
I'm really hoping it's going to be different this time. I hope people finally say enough. I don't plan to comply this time, but we'll see how that works. They'll literally kick people out.
So I did something similar over here in Oz (Qld, if anyone cares), except with the QR code "check in" shit we are all expected to do (it tracks your every move, so... I would consider it even worse than masks alone, personally!), and the, uhh, let's just say "Immigrant door gargoyle" threatened to call the cops on me, lololol...
And she probably would have, too.
Amazingly, this was at a fucking pancake restaurant, in a shopping mall catering for tourists. So I just promptly told her to get fucked and went to a based Tibetan joint down the road, who didn't give a flying fuck, and didn't even ASK me to "check in", let alone "demand it", lol...
Anyway, just thought I would offer that "insight", because it was sort of amusingly similar...
Also interesting: gargoyle was first-generation Chinese, vis à vis the Tibetans who weren't having any of that shit, lol. Though I suppose that's unsurprising, all things considered!!
She's called 'Comcast Kate' in Oregon.
Why, you might ask?

One of the saddest things you'll ever see.
No, no, people just hate her because she's a progressive bisexual woman, not because she's a corrupt tyrant!
She's married... but openly bisexual?
This is Rome all over again.
Can’t wait to see how it ends this time 🍿
When you allow the least-qualified or fraudulent candidates to take public office, this kind of thing is expected.
Exact quote (emphasis mine):

Communism. The answer to all of your questions is communism.

Local representatives responding to the concerns of their community?
Clearly not with the programme...

Agreed, but even that is capitulation. This time I plan to just ignore them, and see how they'll respond.

Based Tibetans!
Seriously though, good story. It's nice to have positive stories, in this time of universal stupidity. Thanks for sharing.
