I'm starting to get those "Troy Baker on the subject of Kanji" vibes. Completely missing the point of the character to virtue signal.
Naoto is also a great barometer of how much the trannies have overpowered women in the political sphere.
Because it could be a discussion on how a woman has to fake being a man to get anywhere in a career and all that misogyny jazz. You know, something close to the intent.
But nah, chick dresses as a dude. Must want to BE a dude, and is tranny. No logical explanation or disguise, nope all tranny.
The game pretty clearly and explicitly states that any gender dysphoria on Naoto's part is transient and purely externally-motivated due to societal pressures.
And it's not like one line of one dialogue in a missable section of a secret mission in a DLC's optional sidequest, it's literally 10% of the entire game. A good 10% of the game is dedicated to telling you that Naoto is NOT trans.
It's like they've never played it.
I don't get the reference.
Persona4. A game where you explore the inner psyches of characters as JRPG dungeon-crawlers. Kanji's inner psyche is a spa/fitness studio full of buff manly men, and the boss makes JoJo characters look like straight-laced mormons.
But it's an RPG, lots of talking. You can interpret the scenery all you want, but the words were clearly speaking of one specific thing. Which is NOT the thing that internet commentator Troy tried to attach to the character.

Basically what Kweebecker said. But be aware, Troy Baker is not some "internet commentator," he was literally the voice of the character in discussion. Tried to use his character to score some LGBTQ points, when the entire point of his character is "he cares for his mom, loves the family craft (textiles), and loves using said craft to make cute things that kids might buy; THAT DOESN'T MAKE HIM GAY."
