This is amazing - they've actually made it more damning.
The original has China annexing territory and oppressing the populace, if not conducting a slow, silent genocide.
The new version has 'The Federation of China' annexing territory that now ISN'T EVEN NAMED, whilst the same story of local depopulation of now nameless people continues.
In other words, China didn't care about being painted as genocidal Han supremacists. Instead, China cared about people knowing the names of their victims.
Absolutely fucking staggering.
China's complaint to the devs was basically 'Could you erase our victims?'
I’m pretty sure it has more to do with Taiwan, Tibet, Uighur, and Inner Mongolia being portrayed as not already within China’s borders at the start. The CCP is really anal about its territorial integrity.
“This has always been my house!” claims man who drilled a hole in your wall and slept in your basement.
Censorship is dumb.
I'm pretty surprised to see ArcSys bend the knee. I thought they were fairly independent and thoroughly Japanese, so appeasing the Chinese seems pretty out of character.
China money too stronk man
I knew China had an FGC scene but I didn't think it was large enough to command this kind of compliance.
Bruh, I play KOF. KOF is fucking popular there, both KOF 97 and 98.
xiaohai? dakou? Come on man, it's big dick money for Japanese devs.
I wonder why Singapore, Korea, and Taiwan were erased.
