The key point I would clearly reinforce is that we never stated that the laptop issue was a Russian 'disinformation’ operation, but rather that it had all the hallmarks of a Russian ‘information' operation.

So even the original letter didn’t dispute the authenticity of the laptop leak. It just speculated that Russia was responsible for the leak (without evidence but due to “hallmarks”).

The media comes along and uses this to claim that the leak is “disinformation” when that’s not what the letter means at all. But the cretins who wrote the letter don’t appear to have made any attempt to correct the media about their incorrect interpretation of it until now, and even now do so half-heartedly.

Meanwhile, anyone who believes the leak is tarred as a conspiracy theorist based on a complete lie, and there’s no legal recourse to be had.
