Though it is kind of funny that people want Final Fantasy to have action combat because turn based is 'old and boring

I don't think anyone but Square and games journos think that. We haven't had a proper turnbased FF since FFX in the mainline, and that was near 20 years ago.

I don't know Yakuza well enough to comment on the change, but Turn Based is basically a dead genre in the AAA sphere, and nearly every series that was founded on it went action based in the last decade. Which might be why people liked it here.
