For Context Sonic fans are upset over Sega Announcing they created NFT's in partnership with a company called Double Jump Tokyo What are NFT's which are Non-Funglable Tokens from my understanding people sell them like Digital Pokemon cards which only a few are in circulation that you can sell online for Crypto or money.
It seems some Sonic fans are Environmentalist that believe that NFT's will harm the Environment by wasting energy and resources to create these NFT's I am not kidding this is what they believe online claiming this will hurt Animals and plants they even created a Change . Org petition to have Sega not use NFT's it also will hurt Artist didn't get ask permission for there work to be on these NFT's.
They're a digital version of art. No painting is truly worth $450 million, but the existence of a market for $450 million paintings is awfully convenient for the rich and powerful.
Not even just art, you can use NFT's for a lot of stuff. For example the game Gods Unchained has NFT cards that you can play with. The game is like Hearthstone, but the cards are fully tradeable. Axie Infinity has tradable characters that you can breed like pokemon and use in their game.
They're basically useless when it comes to art, but I'm very excited for their applications to video games.
Money laundering.
Blockchain patents are a neat idea, but the absolute ignorance surrounding blockchain tech is scary. People just invest in the memes.
Well, music artist are getting in on that stuff.
What is it with Sonic and cringelords?
I don't really get NFTs, but hell I guess I do own a little bit of crypto so who am I to talk? I don't even get a pretty picture with that just some digital money. I have to think a lot of the crazy around all this is being driven by inflation too.
Are the environment concerns just being brought up by the central banking systems anyway and letting the greenists be their useful idiots?
