Social media allowed for a drastic shift towards a globalism structure that hates local culture, national identity and diversity of thought. For all their claims for diversity they want every place on earth to be exactly the same.

A bunch of Center Left & Social Democrats were protesting to establish a minimum wage. The cops watched over the protest. A communist agitator threw fucking dynamite at the cops. The cops fired at the communists who were hiding behind the crowd of protesters. Several of the actual peaceful protesters were killed. Since then, every year, Communists have celebrated the intentional slaying of useful idiots to promote further revolution.
The mainstream Left exists to:
Repeat the Fabian narrative
Be the bullet sponge of the Radicals
Make apologetics for both
Belittle any dissent beyond their current position
The mainstream left calmed the fuck down in the 1980's and 1990's because while the Fabians had held onto their establishment control, the progressive left had gotten their asshole's blown out by Walter Mondale being absolutely obliterated by Reagan, and by the Soviet Union collapsing so rapidly that literally none of them saw it coming. The Fabians were left sitting on top of the world, unsure how to proceed since right-wing attitudes seemed to be ascendant and needed to be contained by "90's Democrat" mentality, and going full progressive or full socialist was clearly a bad idea.
But Fabians don't exist to go anywhere else, so we're right back where we started.
The Left are only being slightly more nonsensical because they don't have an authoritarian Leftist to lead them to victory (Hillary BTFO'd), so they are now a bunch of confused squabbling Bolsheviks as the Fabians desperately try to re-orient the entire world monetary system at the last minute before the whole system fucking implodes like the Soviet one did.
This is the Left normally. They just didn't have pretense to pretend that they were legitimate after the ending of the Vietnam War destroyed any desire for revolution that they could exploit, and left them waging war against average Americans who were finally getting tired of their shit.
The sentiment was always there. The problem was that available infrastructures and technologies at the time didn't provided them with feasible means to enact their plans.
