I saw a Reddit post titled, "Is anyone else considering relocation out of Texas?" You know on a platform that's pretty much the people too liberal to be liberal who massively downvote people that provide them actual information about how things work because it's not "muh Republicans fault." Even worse, don't dare to suggest to these individuals that they might could have been better prepared by actually having a plan of their own that might have involved some sort of ability to stay warm and have food to consume knowing it was coming a week in advance. Holy shit no they are all much too poor and unfortunate to buy some cheap ass cans of soup that would save them from starvation, because damn they need that Starbucks money.
I know they are full of shit, since I think they were all supposed to be celebrating their 4th anniversary as Canadians right now. Still, good God I hope they leave.
I really need to manage my expectations better, because the idea that someone wouldn't always have at least a few days of long lasting/non perishable food is pretty strange to me. Even by accident I would expect just a couple cans of something. I am constantly disappointed and surprised by how many people don't have the slightest amount of personal survival responsibilities whenever there are even relatively minor disasters like this.
It's crazy isn't it? I couldn't believe that on Monday morning the news has the "we're out of food and everything is closed" people. It's been about 24 hours at that point? You can't make it 24 hours?!
No one would ever call me a prepper because I'm not, but apparently I had a little foresight in that I realized what was coming and quietly made sure I had enough food to get through the week and a way to cook it. I didn't have as many issues as most as I kept electricity and water, but I may learn from others transgressions and buy a box of that "oh shit" food and some water to stick in a closet.
They use their same Snopes-like attitude for this. Mostly false: as the windmills didn't fail, they were intentionally shut down to protect the equipment. Then throw in some extra stuff also true about how other sources of electricity had issues as well. As if that makes any difference.

I saw a tweet where someone was bitching that the food in their fridge was spoiling. When it's below freezing outside.

You don't fine evil. You don't argue with it or try to give it a system of incentives to improve itself.
When you encounter evil, destroy it.
Being a leftist means never having to take responsibility. For your ideology or even your own life failings.
