The following was posted on the conspiracy subreddit yesterday- I think he has a point since I've noticed similar trends in my own circles. But given individual experiences are highly subjective, not sure how accurate this is across the nation. Can any of you comment on the validity or non-validity of this?
I'm starting to suspect that the real "Silent Majority" is a collection of people left right & center, who are rejecting the corporate media narrative, and have lost respect for mostly all politicians. I am also starting to suspect that this "Silent Majority" is way larger than we're lead to believe
How many people do you know personally that have lost faith in, or at the very least are now questioning the corporate media? How many of them surprised you, since you previously viewed them as the NPC-Type?
How many people do you see liking and sharing memes and posts that go against the norm?
Did you notice how much support the "Gamestonk Rebellion" got from all sides?
Do you find that the number of people who actually care about this impeachment trial is very low? How many of your friends and family see it as political theater wasting time that could be better spent on relief?
Have you noticed a lot more people turning to different forms of media?
Because of this pandemic we are basically being forced to only communicate through social media and apps. It's no secret that they can see pretty much everything we say and see, and what we are seeing is them turning up the propaganda to 100. We are seeing them go all in with divisive distractions, while artificial trends are bullied in to formation. We watch over the top hashtags get astroturfed to the top of platforms. We are seeing corporate media pushing for expanded government surveillance powers, while simultaneously trying to destroy independent media. While this is happening our president has spent his first 21 days signing an unprecedented amount of unpopular executive orders bypassing working with congress altogether. He's doing this surrounded by thousands of armed troops patrolling DC.
This doesn't sound like a government that is confident in it's ability to rule, this seems like the actions of people who are scared. What data are they seeing when they monitor us that's causing them to act this way? Why does it seem like we are witnessing the elites in panic mode, flexing their muscles in fear, hoping we don't call their bluff? As we sit quietly behind our mandated masks, it seems like theirs is slipping.
I think this shift is pretty accurate for most of middle America and most rural areas throughout the country.
I don't think this is sadly accurate for white collar "professionals" in urban areas in coastal states.
I know too many white collar "professionals" who are still cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs level of woke.
There are still too many corporate brainwashed professionals and too many leftist Karens in suburbs.
I live in the woods near a small-ish town, and my neighbors and I don't trust any of what's going on. And I can pretty openly say things like "obviously voting doesn't matter anymore" and have them nod their heads.
I work for Woke Capital, and they say shit like "unlike a third-world dictator, our leaders are keeping people in their homes out of a genuine concern for them" and think I'm crazy if I express skepticism beyond "isn't it weird how public health officials today will completely contradict what they said the other day without even acknowledging the contradiction?"
My neo-con parents are all on-board with the mainstream narrative. I think to them Tucker would be an extremist let alone my views.
My suburban lolbert friends are the hardest to read. They don't trust the government but are on-board with the mainstream leftist narrative (like BLM calls for defunding the police) when they think it's tactically advantageous. However they're open to my arguments that ultimately allying with the mainstream left is only going to benefit the left and they will get none of what they want in return.
Wishful thinking.
Until the concept of "The Left" can do wrong, and I mean the concept, not individual factions within it acting temporarily out of line, but immediate harsh punishment for wrongdoing, endorsed at large, there is no groundswell.
I have friends who say (The Mandalorian actress) Gina's firing was not only justified but NEEDED, in example, because she used masks as a basepoint to make a political joke, and as we know, masks are sacrosanct and above such mortal interactions.
It is dangerous for you to keep people like that as friends.
If they are that zealous of lapping up state propaganda, I personally would not trust them.
I personally see no benefit in maintaining friendships with people that are that level of brainwashed.
Well, welcome to Quebec. Where you're either a loony leftist who wants one-world-order, or a loony leftist who wants the English to be exterminated. Any views besides those two are in remarkable minority.
I maintain friendships for the express reason of providing a middle-ground touchstone. Few people un-brainwash themselves, it comes from an outside factor. People quit the KKK when a black man made friends with them, not when that black man ghosted them.
My condolences to you having to live in a province in Canada that is not based Alberta.
It seems like they are at the cusp of opening their eyes, but they talk themselves out of these kinds of questions. It always comes down to, "well, the government has always been incompetent/bad" or "the media has always been biased." They argue that since media bias or government corruption has been going on for years, that makes it something not worth thinking about. Even if they say that this has always been the case and they are aware of it, they still take the word of the media and government officials without question.
I hope so, but it's difficult for me to say. I've mentioned previously here that I am in academia, and many of those around me appear to be 100% indoctrinated. At most I can think of one individual who might be going this way. For most of the rest I have plenty of stories about how they seem to buy into whatever the mainstream media narrative is at the moment.
It probably is the majority, but until the media is broken, it’s difficult for it to really achieve the critical mass for real social change. They provide leftists with the cover they need to never change. The left wing base is so accustomed to intellectual dishonesty and cognitive dissonance that they can shrug off facts and logic that don’t suit them. All they need is CNN and The NYT to tell them they are right.
Until something comes along that is so offensive and enraging to the general public that the media can’t hide the facts, and leftist base is scared straight, they’ll never be swayed. You would think blatantly rigging an election would qualify, but apparently not!
I have had fantastic luck in convincing even SJW types of pro-white, pro-Christian, anti-jew ideologies recently.
People are just fed up with the state of the country and even those conventionally aligned with the far left are starting to realize it was a giant meme after the ongoing fiasco that is Joe Biden. It also helps that the big wig far leftist figureheads cannot stop lying, and with really, really, really obvious lies too.
