Anyone have a good idea of how to prevent automatic system updates on android? I'm thinking given their behavior lately I don't want them to be able to make drastic changes to my device automatically.

Turning off automatic app updates is easy enough. But google pushes updates that they download or even install automatically. I wouldn't put it past them to install something that removes parler.

my phone is so old android updates aren't supported. v 4.2.2 but playstore still work

At this point everyone should take a few hours and learn how to flash/root/adb their phone. At the very least learn how to sideload apk apps without using Google App.

I'm computer illiterate and I was able to learn how to do all that on my device from this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com , just search for your device. I'm sure there are tons of other forums that can teach you how.

If your actually dumber than me, which means you're retarded btw, use this app https://appcloner.blog to make clones & stop your apps from auto updating/sharing your info. Again you'll have to sideload as it isn't on the Google store, but they used to have a silly little app on the google store that would sideload their cloner for you. I'm pretty certain even with the free version you can easily stop any app from auto updating. (BTW, if any of you guys are actually computer literate and can CoDE, what do you think of that app?)
