I'm not weird. I would never eat that junk. I just like laughing at it. It's like those pictures of disgusting houses. You like those too right?

Why not?
Southern cooking is great. Except for grits. Fuck grits. Oatmeal > grits. There's only one true way to eat corn and it doesn't involve grinding it into pudding.
I don't think anyone likes grits. People just pretend to like it because it is expected of them to like to grits. Sort of like hipsters with kale.
You have to add something to grits, you can't just have it by itself.
Frankly, the flavor of grits isn't even the point. IIRC it comes from "Sloosh" which was a meal of basically left-over fats and grease. It's fucking terrible... unless your a farmer in the humid as south, a slave, or a confederate soldier doing back-breaking labor all day. Then you need literally all of the fat and carbs.
Colonial Americans were making 4,000 - 6,000 calorie puddings. Can you even imagine how exhausted these people were after a day of hard labor?
Not many people nowadays have even DONE any hard labour.
I don't disagree.
You know I was thinking I like grits. Although I would argue I like oatmeal way more.
Then I read your comment and you're totally right. I like grits as a paste to put some other flavor in. Beyond that they are sort of ok as a grain based side to some eggs and sausage. If you can't figure out how to toast bread, or make some sort of potatoes, or well if grits are the best you can get.
